The premiere exhibition of the latest series of works by Joanna Rajkowska at TRAFO. The title suicides are devoid of any ethical imperative. They do not ask about the value of life, they do not suggest better solutions, they do not reflect on the complex reasons for such a dramatic decision as taking away life for themselves and for others. It is a project that does not diagnose or describe a suicide attempt as much as it tells about the author's relationship with women who made him or sent other women on suicide missions.
As the artist says, the essence of the work is: "(...) a feeling of inability. It concerns the impossibility of true empathy, inability to understand a woman, (...) who attempts to destroy herself and others by the way. My point is that I am not and never have been on this kind of border, in this state of body and mind. Sitting in a comfortable European country, we can only afford the Schadenfreude, enjoying the spirit that we do not experience these monstrosities. "
