Time: every day until July 29
Venue: The Dialogue Centre Upheavals, 1 Solidarności Square, Szczecin
The exhibition presents the background to the preparations for the visit to Szczecin of John Paul II (took place on June 11, 1987) and tells about events that took place shortly before and during the visit. The presented materials (scans of documents and photos) show the real intentions of the Polish People's Republic (Polish: Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa - PRL) authorities, they remind Poland of the second half of the 1980s and what the papal visit to Szczecin and Westpomeranian Region brought. Some of the materials, from collections of institutions or home archives, were used for the first time for the purposes of this exhibition.
The opening of the exhibition took place on June 11, 2017 at Jasne Błonia. Unfortunately, after three days the exhibition was destroyed by a gale.
The exhibition, in a new arrangement, on more permanent presenters, will be available until the end of July 2018.
