FANTASTIC TEAM "WOODY SEZ" FROM NEW YORK - FOR THE FIRST TIME IN POLAND!
WOODY SEZ is a joyful, energetic and positive emotion band that performs the songs of Woody Guthrie - one of the most important bards of folk music.
Woody Sez consists of the four talented musicians associated with the New York scene, Broadway and the local music university. They perfectly mastered the game on many instruments, such as guitar, violin, djembe and cymbals. They also brought to life many characters who are important heroes of Woody Guthrie's amazing story.
The combination of great acting, fascinating Guthrie history and the synergy of timeless songs - folk hymns, together create a spectacle that must be seen. Woody Guthrie talked about the problems of ordinary people, prejudice, exclusion but also hope, respect, love, just like Woody Sez's music.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame called Woody Guthrie - "an unusual hero of folk", a man who in the 1930s and 1940s transformed folk ballads into objection music and social and political commentary. Guthrie opened the way for artists such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Ramblin 'Jack Elliott, John Sebastian, Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton and many other folk and rock music creators. He led a colorful life that went down to the legend and heavily influenced the culture of America of the twentieth century. "
The leader of Woody Sez's band is Andy Teirstein - the spiritus movens of New York's bohemian artist. His compositional work is inspired by the rich and diverse folk roots of contemporary culture. Teirstein's music was described by "The New York Times" and "The Village Voice" as "magical", "brilliant" and "brilliantly performed".
Teirstein was a student of Leonard Bernstein, Henry Brant, Bruce Saylor and David Del Tredici. He composes music for concert halls, film and theater. He is a laureate of numerous awards such as National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts and the American Composers Forum. Currently, he is the director of Translucent Borders - an international institution that promotes the culture of dance and music in various countries around the world.
