The monument to Pope John Paul II is in the southern part of Jasne Błonia. The City Hall is located nearby. Bus no. 67 stops at the Jasne Błonia stop. Nearby, at Piotra Skargi, there is a free parking.
The monument was unveiled on June 18, 1995. It was placed where Pope John Paul II celebrated a mass during his visit to Szczecin on June 11, 1987. The sculpture was made of bronze. It was designed by Czesław Dźwigaj, the creator of similar monuments in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. His assistant was Stanisław Latour. The figure of the pope is depicted in liturgical vestments. He is holding a cross in one hand and the other is raised in his famous gesture of greeting. On the pedestal, there is the papal coat of arms, the coat of arms of Szczecin, as well as a quote from the homily delivered during the memorable visit "... The family is strong with God, the country is strong with family ...".
