The Philharmonic is located at 48 Małopolska Street in the city center. Nearby, there is a magnificent building of the police, the Angel of Freedom monument, and the Royal Gate. When arriving by tram lines 1, 3, 8, 10, it is best to get off at Plac Żołnierza Polskiego, from where it is less than 500 meters to the Philharmonic. There is a car park on the premises.
The Philharmonic is a five-storey building with a two-level underground car park. Its total area is 12,734 m2. The facility has 2 concert halls, one of which can accommodate approx. 900 people, and the other one can hold approx. 200 people. It is made of white pointed elements that need 25,000 lights for outdoor lighting. The total amount of investments was over PLN 100 million. Part of the amount was financed from the Regional Operational Program of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The author of its design was a company from Barcelona. It won a competition for which 44 projects were submitted. The construction contractor was the Polish company Warbud. The philharmonic was opened in September 2014. During the opening ceremony, Polish President Bronisław Komorowski, among others, called the philharmonic a symbol of Polish freedom. The Philharmonic makes it possible to organize concerts at a great European level, so despite the short history of existence, numerous outstanding ensembles from our continent come here. The establishment of the philharmonic hall significantly improved the quality of cultural life in the region. The building is modern and majestic at the same time, and its construction was not unnoticed throughout Poland. The interior of the philharmonic hall is impressive.
The Szczecin Philharmonic received the Young Architecture Talents award from the National Council of Italian Architects, Planners and Landscape Architects. During Szczecin's Festival of Architecture 2014, "Object of the 25th anniversary - Symbol of Changes", the building won in three categories: Main Award, Award for the Best Public Utility Building, Award of the President of the City of Szczecin. The Philharmonic was also successful at the Eurobuild Awards 2014 and was awarded the Mies van der Rohe 2015.
