COMPETITION PERFORMANCE - Esther Rachel and Ida Kamińska Jewish Theater in Warsaw. Center for Yiddish Culture in Warsaw.
Our project at the Jewish Theater is conceived as a performance in a stage setting of a meeting that does not take place in public space: Polish Jews and fans of Legia Warsaw.
By working with two groups with a very strong sense of community we seek answers to questions about the motives, ways and benefits of creating these collective identities. The space of theatrical fiction enables "real" dialogue between the actors of the Jewish Theater and the Legia fans. What is important is the result of the dialogue - another but combining identity, or even greater antagonism.
Our dream is to create a consensus situation while maintaining significant differences, i.e. respect, finding the basic ground on which it is possible. Remembering the order attributed to Voltaire: "I do not agree with you, but I will do everything to give you my views," is the realm of undeniable human values. And this is not only the problem of selected communities, but the whole, divided today as never before, Poland.
