The Koźlak windmill is in Mierzyn, approx. 8 km west of the center of Szczecin, right next to the city border, near the Gumieńce estate. It is located on a plot of land at Welecka Street, which is part of the national road no. 10. The Julian Hotel is opposite, across the street, and the Welecka Shopping Center is located nearby. There is a public transport stop for number 108 bus in the area.
The windmill in Mierzyn was built at the beginning of the 19th century. It is a wooden structure, the walls of it do not touch the ground. It rises on a large wooden trestle with four legs, which in turn supports the pillar on which the structure is based. The entrance to the windmill is on its eastern wall. Currently, we can admire its four wings, which were reconstructed in the second half of the twentieth century. Nevertheless, the facility requires more care, protection, and further maintenance. Currently, it is located on the plot of a private owner. A wooden windmill, although obscured by the surrounding trees and buildings, attracts the attention of residents and visitors. This interesting structure is the only monument of this type in the region, which attracts not only tourists, but also the inhabitants of the surrounding towns.
