Rewal is a small tourist town located in the northern part of the West Pomeranian Province. There is a bathing beach stretching over about 300 m of the coastline and a harbour for the local fishermen. Rewal is a capital of a commune of the same name.
The first written information concerning Rewal comes from 1434, but, as a resort town, it became popular not until the 19h century. The development of tourism was supported by a picturesque location of the town on a seaside cliff among dunes with beautiful sea landscapes. Tourist can admire them from an observation deck on Parkowa Street. A large attraction for tourists is also Park Wieloryba [the Whale Park], located on Kamieńska Street, where replicas of sea creatures can be seen. Apart from seaside attractions, tourists can see in Rewal a historic station of the Gryfice Narrow-Gauge Railway from the turn of the 19th and the 20 centuries. This first western line was built in 1896 to connect Gryfice with Niechorze.
In this communal town, there is the Communal Office, a police station, a post office, and a fire station. There is also a church built in the 1970s, a sports school complex, a sports and entertainment hall, and an amphitheatre. Since 1985, Rewal has been a host of the Konik Morski Rewala [the Rewal’s Seahorse] international chess festival.
