The church is on the main street leading into the city towards the bus station. The Szczecin Boulevards are nearby.
Szczecin church of St. John the Evangelist has a medieval record and is now part of the Szczecin-Śródmieście deanery. The history of this building is inextricably linked with the Franciscan monastery, established here after the convent was brought in by the Pomeranian prince Barnim I the Good in the 40s of the 13th century.
The church, thanks to its original gothic elements, is an extremely beautiful example of the architecture of Western Pomerania, additionally related to the early gothic construction of French cathedrals. This fact is confirmed by the architecture of the three-span, single-nave chancel with a seven-sided ending. The corpus is equipped with slender, pointed-arched windows with stained glass and a round brick frieze under the roof line. Inside, the attention is drawn to the extremely subtle lighting of the chancel with the altar and the few elements that testify to the long life of the church (including frescoes, figural supports, and baroque organ from the 18th century).
