The Eastern Breakwater is in the northern part of Świnoujście, on the right (eastern) bank of the Świna River, which flows into the Baltic Sea at this point.
The Eastern Breakwater was built in 1818-1823 by order of the Prussian king Frederick William III. Its creation was to counteract the application of large masses of sand from the sea, which silted the mouth of the Świna River and made navigation difficult. The breakwater, made of stone, is approximately 1400 meters long and approximately 7 meters wide. In the 1980s, the crown of the breakwater was covered with reinforced concrete, which made walking more comfortable, but unfortunately, due to this procedure, it lost some of its charm. A walking route runs along the breakwater, especially attractive at sunset. There is a stave at the end of the breakwater. The facility is not adapted to the needs of disabled people.
