The Railwayman Monument is located opposite the Main Railway Station. Bus no. 70 stops nearby at the Dworzec Główny stop, and trams no. 3 and 6 stop at the same stop. Nearby, there parking spaces for cars and taxis.
The author of the monument is Ryszard Chachulski who also designed the Sailor's Monument located at a fountain. The figure was unveiled in 1964. It shows a man who sets the switch. He seems to be working hard, as evidenced by his well-defined body. He is partially undressed, which suggests that he is performing its tasks on a hot day. Artificial stone was used to make the sculpture. Its height, including the plinth, is approx. 3 m. The monument fits perfectly in the place and is often the first point that tourists pay attention to after leaving the Main Railway Station. While standing in front of the monument, you can admire its beauty and simplicity at the same time, while observing the Oder River.
