The bridge over the Dziwna Strait is in Dziwnów, at Juliusza Słowackiego street, road No. 102.
The bridge connecting Dziwnów and the island of Wolin was built in the 1950s where a former ferry crossing was. Initially, it was a wooden bridge with a single span lifted. The current one, with a steel structure, was commissioned in 1994. Its two spans rise to let yachts, cutters and cruise ships leave the port. Raising the span opens a 16-meter-wide navigation channel.
The first bridge, from the 1950s, became famous thanks to its portrayal in the movie “Czterej pancerni i pies” (Four Tankmen and a Dog) as the site of one of the daring actions. It is now a great tourist attraction, both for passengers of ships passing underneath it and people observing the process of lifting the bridge from the ground. Spans are electrically lifted at even hours.
