Kamień Pomorski, near the Kamieński Lagoon, Cathedral Square.
The system of defensive walls around Kamień Pomorski began to be constructed in the first half of the 14th century, after the Brandenburgians attacked the town and burned it down. Eight defensive towers were built then - three of them were located on the side of the Kamień Lagoon. From the land side, the city was protected by a wall with five towers and two moats from the south. The cathedral and the chapter buildings had their own separate fortifications - their fragments have survived to modern times. Relics of the Cathedral Gate and the Chapter Gate are visible.
Well-preserved remains of the old town fortifications are located near the Lagoon - it is the Butter Gate with a passage in the wall and the Wolin Gate with a Tower. The remaining fragments of the defensive walls were dismantled in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and the materials were used to build houses.
