Jan z Kolna is an interesting person around whom many legends have arisen. One of them claims that he arrived in America before Columbus as an envoy of the Danish king Christian I Oldenburg. Reportedly, he landed on the Labrador Peninsula and was also looking for treasure in the vicinity of present-day Boston, but unfortunately there is no evidence of this. It is also not entirely certain whether the sailor existed at all and whether he came from Poland. However, many historians believe that the existence of the character is an indisputable fact. The sculpture dedicated to the sea sailor was erected in 1976. It was designed and made by Stanisław Lewiński. The sculpture is 230 cm high. Artificial stone was used to create it.
