The gothic chapel located in the oldest part of the city on Bolesław Chrobry Square is an outstanding memento of the 13th / 14th century Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which stood in this place until the end of the 19th century, and then was demolished. The chapel was located at the southern wall of the temple. The base of the chapel is a stone foundation made of erratic boulders. The facility is built of red brick and covered with a gable roof. The entrance to the building is located on the south wall. The heavy, stylized door was set in an ogival portal decorated with alternating black and red glazed brick fittings. On the right side there is a pointed window. Above, there are three ogival blendes, i.e. shallow recesses in the wall, with an arcade pattern with decorated brick fillings. In the eastern and western elevations, there are single windows between two lancet blinds. Above, in the eastern façade, there are three additional blinds with a geometric decorative pattern, the so-called blind tracery. In the west, there are four additional blinds, but without decorations.
In 2009, the chapel was restored, in the evening you can admire it illuminated in all its glory. Throughout its history, the chapel served as a morgue at a time when there was a church cemetery here. There was also an altar here at one time. It also served as a church porch. At the beginning of the present century, there was a jewelry store here, and now the building is used as a Tourist and Cultural Information Center under the Municipal Cultural Center in Police. Near the chapel, in a small, well-kept green area, a model of St. Mary's Church was placed, which stood here until the end of the 19th century and which includes the preserved chapel to this day.
